Local authorities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have joined forces with the community and voluntary sector to ensure vulnerable people are able to access the support they need in the coming weeks.

A new helpline is up-and-running for frail or vulnerable residents who do not have support from families, friends or their local community, and who need urgent assistance with essential food or household supplies, collection of medication, or who are at risk of loneliness.

The Coronavirus Hampshire Helpline – Hantshelp4vulnerable - can be contacted on 0333 370 4000. It is available seven days a week, from 9am-5pm for people in Hampshire only. There are separate arrangements in place for Southampton, Portsmouth and Isle of Wight residents.

For Southampton residents in the SO14- 19 postcode area, visit www.solinked.org.uk for your local information.

For Portsmouth please call 023 9268 8004 or visit this link for further information.

For the Isle of Wight visit this website or call 01983 823 600 between 9am and 5pm seven days a week.

University Hospital Southampton has launched a High Risk Patient Support Hub which provides a single point of access for patients who may need extra support due to the need to isolate or shield during COVID-19. By linking with the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) and the national volunteering campaign, the service makes it easier for patients to access any community support they may need during this time. This may include help collecting shopping or prescriptions and getting to appointments, for example - or for some, a friendly chat to help pass the time.

Volunteer call handlers will guide patients through the process of booking support either as a one off or on a regular basis from the RVS, community volunteer responders or trust volunteer drivers.

You can refer patients through to the service by email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 0800 484 0135, the service is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm
